Project summary relevant to Fellowship:

David Page and William Crawley are currently directing a project on Media Policy and Law in Sri Lanka, funded by the Ford Foundation. The project began in 2009 and is scheduled to end in 2012. The aim is to develop a body of material on consitutional and regulatory issues relating to media policy which will be made available through a website to academics, media trainers, students and other civil society groups within Sri Lanka and the wider region. The project's Chief Associate in Sri Lanka is Kishali Pinto-Jayawardena, a leading lawyer and specialist on media and human rights issues. The project has developed links with Sri Lankan universities and training institutes and made a study of their curricula and will be sharing its findings with these institutions.
