Summary of research interests and expertise:

Sarah Pyke is MHRA Postdoctoral Research Associate at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, where she is working on the three-volume Cambridge History of Children’s Literature in English, supporting the general editors and contributing a chapter on gendering the child in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries (forthcoming with Cambridge University Press in 2024). She received her AHRC-funded PhD – an examination of LGBTQ+ adults’ memories of reading in childhood and adolescence – in April 2020, from the University of Roehampton, where she held a studentship as part of the Memories of Fiction project. She teaches children’s literature at undergraduate level and postgraduate level, including critical and creative approaches. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Reception: Texts, Readers, Audiences, History, English: The Journal of the English Association, SHARP News, the International Journal of Young Adult Literature and International Research in Children’s Literature. She is the recipient of the SHARP 25th Anniversary Fellowship Award 2023.
