Ammar Bajboj is a visiting research fellow at the Refugee Law Initiative, School of Advanced Study, University of London. Prior to this, he was at Kings College London, War Studies Department; he has also worked as a researcher and Project Support on the Justice, Conflict, and Development network(Opens in new window) hosted by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) Centre for International Studies. Ammar also works at some organizations that deal with humanitarian affairs and refugees. Also, he is a member of trustees at New Citizen's Gateway(Opens in new window) Organisation that helps asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.
Ammar has a Ph.D in Law from Cairo University in Egypt, an LLM in Public International Law from the University of Tanta, and a Bachelor of Law from Damascus University in Syria.
Until 2015, he has worked as a lawyer and lecturer at Damascus University and the Syrian Virtual University. As a result of the exacerbation of violence during the war in Syria, Ammar had to leave; he moved to the UK, where he currently lives and works. His research areas of interest are refugees and their integration in the host countries, Immigration Law, Refugee and Asylum Law, transitional justice, and the peace process in the post-conflict.
