My work concerns the philosophy of speech: what does it mean that we are speaking beings? I address this topic across a range of philosophical and theoretical paradigms, research themes, projects and interests: 1. Post-Kantian German Philosophy (especially the thought of Ernst Bloch) 2. Philosophy of Language and Communication 3. Rhetoric (and its relation to philosophy) 4. Psychoanalysis and unconscious communication 5. Critical Theory 6. Anticipation, Futurity and Temporality 7. I lead the Ernst Bloch Centre for German Thought and convene the London German Philosophy Seminar at the Institute of Modern Languages Research. At Middlesex University London I am a member of the Language and Communication Research Cluster and Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion.
