Details
A survey of major law libraries around the world 2012. During 2012 David Gee, IALS Deputy Librarian and Academic Services Manager, conducted a global survey about research support services in the major law libraries around the world. The findings from this research will be published in an article in the International Journal of Legal Information in late 2013. A pre-print of the report is available with the detailed comparative data which forms the appendices at: http://ials.sas.ac.uk/library/lawlibs/report.htm
FLAG Database Rebuild Project 2013-2014. FLAG Database Rebuild Project was a major project to rebuild the award-winning FLAG Foreign Law Guide database from May 2013 to June 2014. The project involved reassessing the print collections of foreign primary law materials in 56 UK law libraries and rebuilding the FLAG database (which is freely available as a national resource for law on the web at: http://ials.sas.ac.uk/flag.htm).  The project, overseen by David Gee, IALS Deputy Librarian, benefited from the expertise of Dr Peter Clinch, the original project manager and creator of FLAG; Gerry Power, FLAG Rebuild Project Manager and Hester Swift - IALS Foreign and International Law Librarian; assisted by Lindsey Caffin and Steven Whittle at IALS Global Law Library. The FLAG Database Rebuild Project attracted generous financial support from the School of Advanced Study, the Bodleian Law Library at the University of Oxford, the Squire Law library at the University of Cambridge, the British Library and BIALL (the British and Irish Association of Law librarians). It was successfully completed on time and on budget in June 2014.
