- Project summary:
The London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP) brings together three leading UK research organisations: King’s College, London (KCL), the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) and University College London (UCL). Together we have over 750 research active staff and more than 1300 PhD students working on AHRC subjects, providing critical mass in a collaborative research environment in over 30 disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas. The three partners are recognised as global research leaders, with UCL ranked 10th and KCL standing at 28th in the Times Higher World Rankings for Arts and Humanities (2012); SAS is a national provider of humanities and social sciences training for the UK. Our vision is to create a seamless experience for all LAHP students, breaking down administrative barriers to ensure they join an intellectual community that provides them with friendship, skills and support as well as offering the potential for strong links to external and international partners. By the time they are awarded their PhD, our students should understand how their work could make a difference to global issues and themes; they should be excited about the potential to take their research into new spaces and engage with new audiences. Equally, our partners, who range from large cultural organisations such as Tate and the V&A to smaller creative businesses, will understand how to get the best out of their collaboration with our students. Delhi already part of our existing networks, we see the potential to create virtual postgraduate centres in the future, putting LAHP at the forefront of an international approach to postgraduate supervision.
