Project summary:

Recent research strongly suggests that Latin America has played a critical role in the History of Knowledge but this
research remains marginal to mainstream UK academic debates and public understandings. To bridge the
knowledge gap between Latin American Studies and History of Science at large, LAGLOBAL will mobilize four
working groups across seven transatlantic nodes charged with investigating and clarifying the global implications
of pioneering, ‘border-crossing knowledge practices’ developed in Latin America. By bringing cutting-edge Latin
American Studies research into mainstream academic and public light, LAGLOBAL will offer a model for how to
advance Area Studies in a global age.
