Summary of research interests and expertise:

Historian interested in early modern and modern South Asia, the British Empire, colonialism, imperialism and the Constitution of India. My work explores the broad themes of sovereignty, state formation, decolonisation and constitution making. I am particularly keen on the early 19th century and the mid 20th century - the British encounter with Indian state forms and political vocabulary in the 19th century and the birth of Indian democracy and the Nehruvian high tide in the mid 20th century. Currently working on India's Princely States.
